BARIATRIC SURGERY
Bariatric surgery is an operation on the stomach and/or intestines that helps patients with extreme obesity lose weight. This surgery is an option for people who cannot lose weight by other means or people who suffer from serious health problems related to obesity.
Bariatric surgical procedures cause weight loss by restricting the amount of food the stomach can hold, causing malabsorption of nutrients, or by a combination of both gastric restriction and malabsorption. Bariatric procedures also often cause hormonal changes. Most weight loss surgeries today are performed using minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic surgery).
The most common bariatric surgical procedures in Turkey are gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric band, and biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch.
CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIAC SURGERY
Cardiac surgery in Turkey is a dynamic branch of medicine utilizing advanced technology to treat patients effectively. Our partner clinics offer beneficial advice in modifying lifestyle habits and medication, and when required, surgical procedures that aim to improve one’s quality of life. Common cardiac surgery procedures performed in Turkey:
• Heart Surgery with (or without) a cardiopulmonary bypass (open heart surgery requires a cardiopulmonary bypass)
• Coronary artery bypass grafting – to treat patients with coronary artery disease
• Heart valve repair and replacement – using plastic or prosthetic valves
Among all medical procedures, cardiovascular surgery in Turkey is one of the most complex and demanding procedures. As a result, cardiac surgery mortality rates are less than 1% (in developed countries this rate varies between 1% to 3%), while mortality caused by postoperative infections following cardiac surgeries is also lower that the average in developed countries.
HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
Hair transplantation is the action of transplanting hair follicles taken from the back area of the head where the hair is dense to the parts of the head where the hair is scarce with an appropriate operation.
FUE is a method which is developed against the FUT method which has lost its validity. With the FUE hair extraction method, hair follicles are taken from the donor area between the ears with the help of a specially developed micro motor or extraction needle from parts of 0,5 – 0,9 mm.
The FUE hair transplantation method is a painless operation in which the patient can go back to their normal life in a short time and this method does not include any cuts or stitches. No visible, permanent scarring can be seen in the donor area where the hair follicles are extracted from. It is also possible to transplant body hairs with this method.
